Oh Christmas Tree....

Tonight I decorated my Christmas Tree. I was sick and stayed home to rest so tonight I felt rested enough to decorate. Tomorrow night I will post some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I was also just surfing the net and read my horrible-scope! Ha ha... just kidding. It wasn't horrible... it just explained my nature a little bit.

RS lesson

As a member of the RS Presidency (Secretary) I get the opportunity to teach the lesson about twice a year. I changed weeks with another sister and tomorrow I am teaching the lesson.....I'm sorta stuck. I was given a portion of a scripture.
Moroni 7:45 - Charity ...believeth all things, hopeth all things.
That's my part of the scripture to teach on. The intention is for it to the positive and uplifting not the "enduring, bearing etc." part.
I would like to focus on sisterhood and building friendship..... Ugh I dont know where else to go! I want to help the sisters open their eyes to those around them and the relationships they have with eachother ..... Building a Stronger Sisterhood. I guess that is where I'm going to go. It's 7pm! ugh ugh ugh!

Oprah & Denzel ... in person!

Ok I know this is two posts in one day but I wanted to quickly get a few pictures posted before it was a week after I saw them.
As usual I like to share what I do on Saturday Mornings.... This is what I did last Saturday.

Picture Pages with Bill Cosby

Last night I was having a conversation with a friend who is near my age. I don't remember what we were talking about but he said something about "Pictures Pages" and I about freaked! I LOVED Picture Pages when I was a child.... I sooooo wanted the "pencil" he used. I know I had not heard the actual tune other than myself singing it since I was a child. Yes, I remember the words and last night I heard it ...... after about 30 years, it felt like the first time must have felt. I wanted to cry! It makes me so happy....Who would have ever known where this man would end up... Jell-O anyone?

What NOT to wear.

Today I took my friend Jenny shopping. She is currently without a vehicle and needed to do some retail therapy! Just kidding.... she really just had to do basic shopping stuff. Well.....we have a new TJ Maxx in town that opened last weekend so we decided we "needed" to go in. Now I know why!
Disclaimer: Had there been a need to actually block out her eyes I would have used the little black box that Glamour Magazine uses in the "Don't" section in the back of the magazine.....as you can see, there was no need.

Please note that I am referring to the lovely GOLD outfit in the above pictures as denim is a classic and you CAN'T go wrong with it. I really did feel bad for getting such a kick out of someone looking soooooooo bad and seeing as how I work in the Apparel Industry I felt a certain obligation to her as a human to tell her how ridiculous she looked..... I just couldn't do it!

Did you notice?
  • Head to toe GOLD?
  • Cinching on the side of the *shiny* gold pants?
  • Vibrant Purple, High Healed, Gold Trimmed, "Get off MY corner" Boots?
  • Matching GOLD hair?

What you can't see....

  • She is purchasing a GOLD belt to add to the ensemble! (Which she puts on at the register and promptly struts out of the store.)
  • She also purchase a GOLD wallet....needless to say, as a matching accessory to EVERYTHING!!!!
I think this "get up" would have been more understandable had she not been a pasty white, 40'something year old with Golden locks.
I only wish I could have given her some guidance.
I'm so sad inside.

Super Saturday!

Today was our wards Super Saturday. We actually were combined with B'ville 2nd. I only signed up for the jewelry making class where you just brought what you had and they taught you techniques. I purchased beads while in China.... here they are.

These are shells. They are actually an oval shell inside a circle shell. Ironically they are for Shelley.

This is a bracelet for Kathy... the big round black beads are from China... the others were purchased locally.

The matching necklace.

A close-up of the necklace.

The End!

China Trip Pictures

Just wanted to share some of my China Pictures ....

Wanna go to the Airport or Disney Land?

Immigration through the "special car" lane which was sooooooo very long... we decided to walk through and that way the driver could go through the short line!

Sorry for the blurry-ness. This is Hong Kong from the harbor at night.

Along the HK Harbor during the day.

Need to Potty? Just how bad do you really need to go? Yes girls, this is YOUR potty! (at the office) I am sooooo grateful that I was born in the US in the this day and time where we sit on a nice little stool to take care of business. This is, by the way, a very nice place to "squat".... I have been into many factories where it is nothing more than a hole in the ground... gross! I know, how dare I post a picture of the Bathroom!
I just want all of you to know what you are missing on the other side of the world.
P.S. There are "normal stools" in the other stalls :)

Tagged by Meg - 7 (new) random things:

Tag.... we all played it as a child and it has shown it's sweet little face in adulthood via the "Blog". I got tagged and didn't even know it for quite a while. How does this "tag" thing work anyway? I used to be that someone physically touched you and hollered "TAG, YOUR IT!" now... tag is lost out there in the World Wide Web. So.... From what I understand I should tell you 7 Random Things about ME! (evidently they must be new so if you are tagged again you can't just say the same thing). Once I complete my "TAG Assignment" then it's my turn to be the Tagger and virtually tag YOU! Here we go.

7 (new) random things about ME:
...in the ever so lovely David Letterman Count Down manner.

#7: I don't like being touched by strangers. This came to mind because as I was doing some shopping while in China last week I was bombarded with strangers reaching out and touching my arm and getting all too close saying "Missy, Missy... you want handbag, DVD, Watch? You come to warehouse with me. I give you good price."

#6: I am a "Craftoholic". Is there a 12 step program for Crafters? Name a craft. I dare you. I have EVERYTHING you could possibly need to complete that project. I spin wool into yarn (yes, I own a spinning wheel), crochet, hand embroider, scrapbook, make jewelry, sew, work with polymer clay, make stencils, do quilling, draw, paint and am quite good with a glue gun and even own my own Power Tools!

I am also addicted to http://www.craftster.org/

#5. I love NYC. Some day I will live there.

#4. I collect Cookie Cutters. Again... I dare you to name the most obscure object you can think of and I probably have a cookie cutter in that shape. Statue of Liberty, Scissors, Texas Longhorn, Pistol Pete, a Hammer, the SLC Temple, a Beehive, a CTR Shield... along with all the traditional hearts, butterflies and flowers. On top of my amazing cookie cutter collection I have the YUMMIEST (is that a word) Recipe ever! ...sorry I can not share it. :)

#3. I am not a good Blogger. Not even a "fair" blogger but I'm sure if your one of the 5 people that read my blog you know this.

#2. I get to add pages to my Passport!!! This is almost as good as getting a passport for the first time or even your first stamp....This makes me smile!!!!
#1. I don't make my bed every day and my room is currently a mess! OK so I have a little bit of a reason for my room to be a mess. I'm still unpacking from my China Trip.
It is now a quarter till one am, I have to work tomorrow morning and I took a nap when I got home from work today. Hopefully I can sleep. Good night.
TAGing: Katherine, John & Jaimee, Jill, Kasey, Shellie C. (you already admitted you read my blog) AND Mom, Anne, Kelly, Jo, Sarah, Aaron (you all need to start a blog).

A rose a rose a rose... in my garden grew

Are they not the most beautiful ROSES you have ever seen????

I know you all want a story.... his name is Christopher.

Not sure I'm ready to say anything more....

Leaving for China today....

Good Morning! Well today I leave for China. I am headed to Shenzhen (just across from HK on Mainland China) to work with suppliers.
I woke with a toothache so I am going to have to find a dentist today and see whats going on. I'm glad my flight is tonight.
I have so much to get done.
Packing
Laundry
Bills
Shopping
Hummm... it is a short list but I'm sure it will take some time!
Love you all... well those I know. I will have fun pictures for blogging with when I return!

Cookie Factory!

This is what I have been doing for the past few days. I got the new Martha Stewart Magazine in the airport on my way back from NY last week. They had the cutest little treat bag in it.... so I made it and cookies to go in the bag. Meg and I did this together for the girls we Visit Teach (not together) plus a few more.

Cut

Bake

Cooled

Frosted!!!

Details.....

OK now this is how we packaged them....

Lost your Broom? Are these not the cutest things you have ever seen????

Magnolia Bakery - The Village

This way to Magnolia Bakery.... made famous by "Sex and the City".
Magnolia Bakery is a cute little shop in the Village that sells really expensive cupcakes that are not really all that good.
These photos are from my first trip to NYC for WM and we ventured out every night to a new place.... I LOVE NYC!

Cupcakes!

Evidently it is quite common for the line to be around the corner and down the street. They only let a select number of people inside at a time....
the rest of you must WAIT! :)

Kidnapped? In Jail? MIA?

Welcome to the confessional.....
OK so I wasn't kidnapped, locked in a dungeon, in jail or out of the country for the past 5 months. Let me just say in a very plain and simple way:
"I want to be a devout blogger but I am not"
....I'm really sorry to the few of you who actually read my blog: Meg, Kathy, Jill and J&J.
I think now I will do a recap of the past 5 months
OR rather
"5 Months in pictures of Miss Nicki"
....coming tomorrow!
(I swear!)
Now I am off to finish making cookies with Meg!

I know, I know, I know... this is my 3rd Post today but I had to separate the first two and this was not going to wait! I got the Pampered Chef order in! They were soooooo fast! We closed the show Wednesday night and today ... Saturday! I got the order. Ground Fed-Ex is soooo not like normal "ground" packages... at least for Pampered Chef! On to the goodies....

Sorting the orders...

The orders all bagged up!

*MINE*

  • Large Round Pizza Stone and Rack (on the far left)
  • Large Rectangle Baking Stone
  • Large Measuring Bowl (back left corner)
  • Large Measuring Scoop (front left corner)
  • Rosemary and Lemon Soap (top right corner)
  • Veggie Peeler (bottom right)
  • Stone Scrapers (2, small brown squares on stones)
  • Silicone Basting Brush (on top of lg measuring bowl)
  • Flour/Sugar Sifter (smack in the middle)
  • BBQ Basting Brush (still in pkg. on pizza stone)

I was very methodical about what I bought. I got a new veggie peeler because mine is rusted and nasty :P Everything else was purchased because I am a Baker and less of a Cook. I like to do both but maybe I bake because I like to eat those foods better than the ones you use when you "cook"... who knows! I just like to make and eat cookies. :)

Budweiser Clydesdale's!

I'm not sure why they were at the morning meeting but they say K-Mart had 2 at their morning meeting .... and Target had 4 at their morning meeting.

Wal-Mart had all 8 and the coach.... AND the Dalmatian!

I know your jealous!

yes... the K-Mart, Target, Wal-Mart thing was a joke.

Y LAUGH Y

WM Morning Meeting 6-9-07

Anyone seen Spiderman 3 yet?
Does this Cowboy from Texas look familiar?
No?
Well I haven't seen the movie yet... only the subway scene with our cowboy in it...

Well friends... for those of us who don't recognize him this is

Thomas Haden Church

AKA: Sandman in Spiderman, was in the movie Sideways (rated bad so most of you probably haven't seen it... me either), and once upon a time he was in the TV sitcom "Wings".

Does this help?

From Spiderman 3

OK now for the other fellas in the first picture. They are all related to sports in some way shape or form. The older man to the right of Thomas Church is Peyton Mannings father.... Peytons brother .... Ely is there too but hidden in the first pic and blurry in the next! (in the blue shirt below) Fun stuff. All these guys were at the morning meeting supporting a Wal-Mart golf tournament called First Tee which is designed for kids...to help create upstanding adults!

Go Wal-Mart!
Those of you who actually know sports will probably recognize others in the picture ... I just didn't take notes in the meeting! The tall guy on this end, next to the green shirt plays Basketball... others play golf and football.

So that was the majority of my morning.... be sure to check out the next blog entry because it is what I did after the morning meeting today! ...and in my opinion much cooler!

Free! ...to good home

Can you say Free?
How about saying "at least the actual bar stools were free"!
This is my latest handy work. My coworker and I went shopping one day and I had been talking about wanting to buy some bar stools for my kitchen. She was getting rid of some old "yellow wood" looking basic bar stools and had them in the back of her vehicle. I took them and a short amount of time later.... Beautiful!
I sanded them down first to remove all the grime and finish. Then I spray painted them back.... Then I bought a palm sander... which I should have done the first time. Sanded the crud out of them and then used a stain/sealer on them which was called "Early American" by Minwax.... got it at Wal-Mart!!! Yes... My money is recycled. How is that for Sustainability? Ha Ha Ha... that is a totally seperate post to come at a later date! Moving on or rather back to the great stools!
Don't you love them?
